the best summer program in town

The TLC school age staff has over 25 years of experience in developing the best program in town for school age children.  Children are offered a wide range of popular field trips which include:

  • Valley View Aquatic Center

  • Landscape Arboretum

  • Walker Sculpture Gardens

  • Tamarack Nature Center

  • Cascade Bay

  • MN Lynx Games

  • Richardson Nature Center

  • Minneapolis Library

  • Stages Theater

  • Chutes and Ladders

  • Moir Park

  • Lake Minnetonka Regional Park

Summer lesson plans

While at the center, the staff develop lesson plans based around a specific summer theme, such as:

  • Our Favorite Things

  • Creation

  • Imagination Island

  • Fruit of the Spirit

  • Dr. Seuss

  • Spy Kids (mystery solving)

  • Splish Splash

  • Old Testament Stories

  • Minnesota

Lesson plans include special science activities, art projects, toys from home days, outdoor games and lots of fun.  We have a special photo club where special trips are planned for those who want to learn how to take pictures using a camera. Then later, they can edit their photos and these are then given to the families.  We also have a theater club for those who want to try their hand at writing and performing.

Hear from our Staff

The summer program is great because the kids make it great. The staff pick the field trips based on what the kids want to do and what we have done in the past. They also have input in the activities that they want to do. The kids make the summer what they want it to be. They are given the room to make choices and be independent, while also working and playing with kids their age, older and younger. This allows them to develop their social skills with one another and the staff while creating memories and friends
