What are we up to?

TLC ELC is still open during this crazy time! Though our numbers are low, we are still doing our best to provide the high quality care families are used to and the fun and structure the children are used to.

The Penguin and Chipmunk numbers were under 40%, so they have been combined on and off this past week.  They have kept busy playing in the Chipmunk room, fellowship hall and outside.

The Preschool classes are also been under 40% combined. We have brought new toys into the room to keep things interesting, and today went to a long neighborhood walk to get some fresh air and sunshine.

The TAC (whose numbers have been about 32% of our normal attendance) have been extremely busy with fun activities and starting to work on the on-line distance learning for the schools.

Though official distance learning has not started, The TAC staff has printed out the matrix’s provided by the Bloomington School District and have been working on these activities with the children.  Some activities include, a shape hunt, math facts, reading time, and watched a video on the solar system.

Madi and Helina, two of our TAC kids, led a “slime class” on Monday.  Children were given supplies and directions to make their own slime.

With everything going on regarding COVID-19 we have been taking special precautions to keep our kids and staff safe.  We ask that parents and children wash their hands when they enter the building.  Teachers have run toys through the dishwasher to sanitize them, chairs, tables and other surfaces have been cleaned and disinfected.  We are taking more frequent hand washing breaks and continue to serve balanced meals.

Please help us out by washing your child’s nap items over the weekend.  It is also important that if your child is showing any symptoms of illness that you keep them home for the appropriate amount of time.
