The term STEM is becoming more and more common. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and is becoming an important part of children’s education. It has been noted that one reason that it’s so important to encourage STEM learning early education is that the process of inquiry that is integral to STEM is the way young children naturally learn. Young children explore, ask questions, and discuss their findings.
The TAC took a field trip to The Works and had a chance to try out some different STEM activities, as well as take a short class. The younger kids took a class on wind power, and designed their own cars with sails. The older kids learned about circuits , and created their own night light.
