Barb Wigstadt – TLC ELC Director
Barb Wigstadt has been the director of TLC Early Learning Center since 1989. Her background is in Special Education, Secondary Education, Preschool Education and History. She did her BA work at Augustana College in Sioux Falls and her M.Ed. at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She has been in the education field since 1976. Barb has been active in NAEYC Accreditation since 1986 serving as a validator and later sitting on the commissioner panel in Washington DC. Barb has three grown children and lives in Burnsville with her husband. Her passion for photography can be evidenced throughout the center.
Karen Wenge – Assistant Director/Teacher
Karen Wenge has taught at TLC-ELC since 1991. Karen supervises the Adventure Club (school-ager group) in the morning and teaches the private kindergarten class. She received a BS degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten endorsement from St. Cloud State University. Karen has volunteered as a validator for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), as well as serving as a mentor through the Greater Minneapolis Daycare Association apprenticeship program and as a consultant to school age programs throughout the metro area. Karen lives in Minneapolis with her husband and her son, Preston and daughter, Makien who both attend TLC-ELC.
Katie Anderson – Aide
Katie Anderson begin working at TLC-ELC in the winter of 2011. She is gong to school at Normandale Community College and plans to attend Hennepin Technical College for a degree in Early Childhood Education. Her experience includes working for the Bloomington Kids Safari program for 2 ½ years. Katie lives in Bloomington and is expecting her first child in July.
Brandee Davis – Aide
Brandee Davis has been working at TLC-ELC since the winter of 2011. She originally worked for TLC-ELC in 1992 for 5 years before taking time off to raise her 3 sons. Brandee lives in Savage with her husband and sons. She stays busy taking her boys to various school and sport activities. In her free time Brandee enjoys shopping.
Kelli Jensen – Teacher
Kelli Jensen as worked for TLC-ELC since 2004. She completed her AAS in Early Childhood Education through Dakota Technical college in 2006. She is currently working on completing her BA in Early Childhood Education from Concordia. Kelli lives with her sister and two dogs in Bloomington. She likes to scrapbook and watch hockey, but has recently added wedding planning to her agenda with her engagement.
Leslie Jones – Teacher
Leslie Jones as worked for TLC-ELC since 1991. She has worked up from an aide to a teacher over the years. Currently she teaches the kindergarteners in the afternoons, adding the Plus to the Kindergarten-Plus program. She also supervises the entire Adventure Club (school-age) group in the afternoon. Leslie and her husband live with their daughter and stepdaughter, a cat, a lizard, and a fish in Bloomington. Her daughter, Hannah, attends TLC-ELC.
Laura Krieger began her association with TLC-ELC as a parent when her oldest 3 children attended the center. In 2001 she started working at TLC-ELC. She is currently attending Hennepin Technical College working on her AAS in Early Childhood Education. Laura’s joy comes from her family. Laura and her husband and her 4 children live in Bloomington. Her youngest son also attends TLC-ELC.
Renee Landry – Assistant Teacher
Renee Landry joined the TLC-ELC team in 2009. She has worked in most of the rooms at TLC-ELC. Renee completed her general AA in the spring of 2010 and is currently working on her BA from Augsburg College. Renee lives dangerously, in Minnesota, by her enthusiastic support of her favorite team – the Packers. Renee lives in the Uptown area with several friends.
Jenny Larson – Teacher
Jenny Larson has been teaching toddlers at TLC-ELC since 1996. She discovered that two-year olds are her passion and made this her career path. Jenny’s free time is spent with her family and volunteering at her church with the worship and other music ministries. She lives in Bloomington with her husband, who is a teacher in the Bloomington School System and their son, Jonah, who attends TLC-ELC.
Tracy McGuinness has taught at TLC-ELC since 1991. She holds her BA in Elementary Education from North Central College with experience in teaching kindergarten. Tracy is known around the center for the research she has done on healthy eating. Her hobbies include sewing and baking. She is known for her carrot cake and the special birthday cakes that she makes. Tracy lives in Minneapolis with her husband and daughters, Kendra and Riley and son, Tobin, who all attend TLC-ELC.
Katie Wages began teaching at TLC-ELC while in high school in 1997. She worked here through high school and college. Katie graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in Education in 2003. She worked full time at TLC-ELC until her son Carter was born in 2005 and has worked part time ever since. Katie’s extended duties include being one of our bus drivers and working with the marketing of TLC-ELC. Katie lives in Bloomington with her husband and two sons who attend TLC-ELC.
Krista Wigstadt attended TLC-ELC as a child when she moved to Bloomington in 1989. She started working here in 2001 while still in high school. She worked for the center during her college years at Evangel University where she completed her degree in International Studies. Krista’s passions surround her interest in travel, both for fun and on church mission trips to other countries, primarily Africa and Australia. Krista currently lives in Burnsville with her parents.
