Kindergartener’s Great Adventure

As a part of the study of creation, the kindergarteners went to visit Farmer’s Market.  What made this even a more special field trip is that they took the Light Rail.  The Kindergarteners each get to pick a field trip of their choice and one girl in the class picked going on a “train ride”.  They did this today as they took the light rail down to Nicollett.  It was an overcast day, but the excitement of the days events could be felt by all of us.

Earlier this week Mrs. Karen read the book: Tops & Bottoms by Janet Stevens.  It is a story about a bunny and a bear and what parts of the vegetables you can eat – the tops, the bottoms or the middle.  At the Farmer’s Market we investigated the produce to see if it was a top or a bottom growing vegetable.  We were given carrots to sample by one of the Minnesota Growen stands.

The rain that came didn’t dampen the excitement of the trip for any of us, it allowed us to explore some of the skyways and we even saw a GIANT Hot Dog.

It was a rainy day that turned into a fun adventure!

We had a great opportunity to see many different kinds of fruits and vegetables.

Many looked familiar, but then others didn't at all.

Looking at the veggies

We saw many different kinds of Kale, they taste like other vegetables, like broccoli.

Then everyone was given one carrot to eat - but first we had to bite off the tip and wipe off any excess dirt.
