Handwashing

With cold and flu season upon us, it is especially important that staff, children and parents practice good hand washing techniques.  A nurse from Minute Clinic, came in and did a demonstration for the TAC class on the importance of proper hand washing.

First, we read a book called, “Wash Your Hands”, about a princess who learned how many different times through out the day she needed to wash her hands.

Next, we learned a song about hand washing. Sung to the tune of “Are You Sleeping?” “Wash your hands, wash your hands, on the top, on the top, in between the fingers, in between the fingers, round and round, round and round” By singing that song, you will be washing your hands for the suggested length of time (20 seconds).

Next, the nurse put a special powder on our hands that glowed under a black light. We shook each others hands, and gave high fives to show how easily germs are spread from one person to another.

Sharing “germs”.

The black light made the powder “germs” glow.

Then, we washed all of the germs away.

All Clean!!

Clean hands!
