The DuckTape class took a field trip to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse in Bloomington. Operation Christmas Child is put on by Samaritan’s Purse. People can fill up a shoe box with toys, games, books, toothbrushes etc… and drop them off at an Operation Christmas Child drop-off site. The boxes are then packaged and sent to children around the world. For more pictures please visit our facebook page.
The children, staff and families in the DuckTape room filled 13 boxes (and donated $160 to help with shipping charges) for Operation Christmas Child.
Heading out to the bus.
This year, boxes will be delivered to children in Albania, Brazil, Bolivia, Haiti, Niger, Kenya, Togo, Malaysia, Rwanda,Uganda, Columbia, Suriname and China.
Along with the volunteers, we prayed for the children that would be receiving these boxes.
We got to see all the different things that went on in the warehouse- people went through each box to make sure everything inside was safe, labeled each box for what age child it is for, taped boxes and packaged shoe boxes into larger boxes to be flown to different countries.
The Bloomington warehouse estimates that it will send out approximately 700,000 shoe boxes to children around the world this December.
