EXPLORE OUR PENGUIN CLASSROOM
1-YEAR-OLDS
EXPLORING THEIR WORLD
The Penguin Room staff works with the children to develop self-help skills, such as eating with a spoon; cleaning up toys; and starting to dress themselves. Other goals that will be worked toward are developing self-awareness (such as recognizing self and friends by name); developing large and small motor skills (such as learning to walk and beginning to run); picking up and grasping objects with fingers; and developing eye-hand coordination.
Language skills will be practiced, such as forming short sentences, singing songs, and beginning to use words to problem solve. We use the Creative Curriculum as the framework, as well as ongoing assessment of the children to provide what they need individually.
