The Aardvark class took a field trip to the Imagination Theater in Minneapolis. The theater uses live sized puppets to teach children about creativity, diversity and imagination. The theater uses a black lighting system that allows puppeteers dressed in black to “disappear”, while the puppet models and set designs glow.
The performance we saw was “FairyTales”, the story of a little boy who loses his puppy and struggles with a variety of emotions while attempting to find his missing friend. Meanwhile, Lovey fairy has lost her fairy ring! Her fairy friends join together to aid in both searches while helping the little boy identify his emotions of sadness, anger, jealousy, and happiness. Fairytales helps children with the important concept of understanding and identifying feelings and emotions.
