Some of our staff recently took a training on ‘Natural Playscapes’. The theme of this training was the importance of children getting outside and playing with nature. Natural playgrounds such as old/dead trees are better for children to play on than fixed playground: Every step is different and children’s bodies adapt. Play in a natural environment changes with the seasons, which brings new experiences.
The Penguin class had the opportunity to play in a ‘natural playscape’ during a recent field trip to Richardson Nature Center.
