Classroom Goals and Activities

Spiritual Development:

  • Twice monthly worship services with church staff
  • Teachers pray with children before meals
  • Weekly, Christian based music class led by Taylor Wilson(youth and family minister of Transfiguration Lutheran Church)

Social/Emotional Development:

  • Children are encouraged to interact with each other (parallel play vs interactive play)
  • Teachers help build each child’s confidence
  • Children are taught self-help skills (washing/drying hands, putting on coats and shoes, potty training etc…)

Physical Development:

  • Twice daily large muscle time (outdoor, weather permitting)
  • Children have access to materials that help build small motor skills (crayons, puzzles, lacing cards etc…)

Cognitive Development:

  • Colors, shapes, counting (English and Spanish)
  • Teachers encourage critical thinking

Language Development:

  • Print-rich environment
  • Children are encouraged to use manners (please, thank you)

11:50 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.Clean up for lunch
12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.Lunch
12:30 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.Transition to nap
12:45 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.Nap
3:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.Snack
3:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.Large muscle activities, bathroom time
4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.Child-directed play/bathroom time/departure
